The World famous Serengeti National Park is located in North West Tanzania and partly extends into Kenya where it becomes the Maasai Mara. The Serengeti is also contiguous with the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the East. The western part of the NCA was once part of the Serengeti National Park proper but was degazetted in 1959 so that the Maasai could occupy and use the land.
